Zheng Mahler
Bio +
Formed by artist Royce Ng and anthrozoologist Daisy Bisenieks, Zheng Mahler (est. 2009, based on Lantau Island, Hong Kong) create digital media, objects, and performance works, grounding their practice in long-term, research-based projects. Examining the broader interactions between nature and technology, Zheng Mahler engage in speculative encounters and interspecies empathy, with a focus on more than human experiences. Their long-term tripartite research project into various inhabitants of Lantau Island, known as the “Lantau Trilogy,” challenges our human-centric understanding of consciousness by positing what it is like to live, feel, and sense the world as water buffaloes, bats, and fungi.
